"Elektrika" | Tone Bender MK1 Style Germanium Fuzz

$189.00
The Elektrika has become a player-favorite pedal in the 12 years since we introduced it. The Elektrika is based on the Tone Bender MK1 circuit, with the added controls "Tone" and "Gate". The "Tone" control is a strictly passive hi cut circuit implemented in a way that does not affect the behavior of the fuzz circuit. Turn this all the way up and it's as if it is not there - you have the original MK1 circuit. The "Gate" control affects the bias to the main "fuzz" transistor. With this you can vary the response from a sputtery, "gated" fuzz, to a perfectly biased MK1 sound with a mean, gritty edge, to a smoother, more overdrive-like sustain.
A combination of European manufactured ACY26, 2N1305, 2N1307, & 2N1309 as well as Soviet-era military grade germanium transistors provide absolutely stunning fuzz tones. We are proud to offer these top-notch transistors in our standard model.
With Lumberg jacks, top quality pots & switches and these absolutely rippin’ transistors, this will be a pedal board mainstay for life. As always, standard power supply operation, thanks to an analog voltage inverter, you can daisy chain this pedal with other standard center negative pedals.
Depending on current stocks, we can also offer some classic germanium transistors, like AC121, AC125, etc. These transistors offer a slightly different impression of fuzz, and may be more suited to your application. The rarity of the transistor type is reflected in the price, but we aim to keep a standard model using a blend of transistors firmly in a "working player's" price range.
NOTE: All transistors are sorted for gain and noise, and tested in-circuit for excellent tone. No pedal leaves here without sounding frikkin awesome. Combinations of the listed "JDM Standard transistors" will vary. If you would like specific transistors, please email. We can generally accommodate custom orders for a small additional charge.
