Pulling out all the stops, it’s our first point-to-point wired pedal using all N.O.S. components. True bypass, no LED, optional negative voltage inverter. Careful testing revealed that an LED affected sustain – this pedal is such a monster sustain machine at full gain, that we wanted no compromise! But of course, contact us if you’d like it wired with LED, with a mini-toggle to defeat the LED, etc.
So here’s the spiel: You will not find a better sounding Buzzaround style pedal. It’s going to melt your mind, sear your fingertips, and tickle your fancy. Oh yes. Dimed, you get a thick, rich sustain and gorgeous overtones that slide effortlessly into harmonically true feedback. At lower gain, you get that endearing fuzz “honk” tuned to goose-y perfection with the wide range of the tone control. This is a special pedal, and we’re doing everything to make sure it performs as it was intended when originally made.
All new old stock capacitors, tested thoroughly to determine which sound best in each position, with all carbon composite resistors and vintage germanium transistors.
We struck the formula for maximum sustain using 3x Toshiba AC121 transistors. These are very low noise and have a thick, rich fuzz, almost overdrive-like with singing sustain.
Alternately, the circuit can be built with 2N1309 transistors for a bit less sustain and a more "rough and ragged" fuzz at lower gain levels. The AC125 option has a beautiful attack and that sort of "gated" cutoff to the notes.
